Why Our Pasture-Fed Beef is a Game Changer
At The Bigwood Estate, our beef is 100% pasture-fed and raised. This means our meat boasts a healthy omega-3 to omega-6 ratio, much like oily fish, and contains higher levels of minerals and vitamins. This makes it incredibly nutritious!
While red meat should be consumed in moderation, opting for high-quality, pasture-fed meat is a fantastic way to boost your health and support the planet.
How Pasture-Fed Meat Benefits the Planet
Cows are naturally adapted to digest pasture—grass, herbs, clover, and shrubs. Pasture supports a diverse range of insects, birds, and other species. Additionally, soil is an excellent carbon sink.
In contrast, intensively reared cattle are often fed soya or cereal crops, which require significant amounts of chemical fertilizer, pesticides, water, and fossil fuels. Not to mention the transportation impacts.
People can eat grains, but they can’t eat grass. Given the UK’s ideal conditions for growing grass, it makes no sense to ship livestock feed from across the globe.
