Welcome to the Big Wood Estate
This is farming as it once was — and as it must become again.
A working farm. A living classroom. A model for the future.
A Carbon Demonstrator Farm
Big Wood Estate is a carbon demonstrator farm, showcasing best practice in carbon sequestration through soil regeneration, tree planting, and land-use design such as wetland restoration and hedgerow reintroduction. Our work actively contributes to helping achieve net zero, while offering real, measurable solutions that can be replicated elsewhere.
Agriculture and Wildlife Together
We practice agri-rewilding – which is integrating wild areas alongside food production. These spaces support pollinators, wildlife, and include integrated pest control, proving that agriculture and nature are not opposing forces, but that they work best together.
Farming for the Future
Our approach is chemical-free and informed by organic and regenerative principles, rebuilding soil health, increasing biodiversity, and strengthening long-term resilience. We work to restore balance across the whole ecosystem, so that we can all thrive together.
Ancient Wisdom. Modern Knowledge.
We combine time-tested farming wisdom with modern research, innovation, and data-led practice – learning from the past to build a more sustainable future.
Learning, Shared
As a living classroom, Big Wood Estate offers on-site learning, welcoming farmers, students, organisations, and communities to see regenerative farming in action. We believe knowledge grows when it is shared.
Eden for Nature
We are an integral member of the farm cluster, Eden for Nature who aim to re-establish nature corridors across the entire landscape and create a link to other areas of natural beauty such as the Surrey Hills and Kent Wield AONB’s and beyond!

Life in the Mud – Night Walks, Thermal Eyes, and Hidden Riches
Time seems to be moving so fast, yet this winter is taking absolutely ages to get to its end. I am normally quite accepting of whatever weather is happening, as long as I am appropriately dressed. But this year has tested my patience on accepting persistent rain. I cannot quite believe just how much rain […]
