What a beautiful full moon it was last night. An elegant, steady presence suspended in the cool night sky, forever watchful and supportive. The full moon encourages us to take time and connect with ourselves, urging us to be mindful of our intentions and desires. The veil to our higher self feels more delicate and transparent during a full moon, helping us to find our way to a heightened state of being. A time to acknowledge where we wish to go and what we would like from the coming lunar cycle.
The full moon in August, I have found out, is the Sturgeon Moon and apparently gets its name from the immense amount of fish in the sea. It is this moon that encourages us to forge our own path, to follow our intuition to find our own direction, not necessarily in the direction of the crowd. This feels particularly significant as my family had this debate today over lunch: having the courage to know yourself well enough to choose whatever feels authentic, rather than the more common choice of following the opinions and choices of others. The question was ‘are we better to be authentically ourselves or to be socially accepted and influenced by the opinion of others?’
This leads on to what I have spent much time writing about: we must spend a lot of time finding our authentic self in order to become that version of ourselves and to then be content enough with who we truly are to choose a path that others may not have taken. It is this that the Earth is calling for us to do right now: to be different. To make original, unconventional choices and to step up to find a new way, one that feels intuitive, honest and just. Not only to ourselves but to all of creation. As we forge new paths we improve our communities and maybe influence others to find their new way too. Collectively we can raise our frequency and go on to create a meaningful difference.
Certainly, here on the estate, we are creating a new way. Of course there are others we are influenced by and learning from but mostly we are intuitively making it up as we go along, making decisions based on what creates as much benefit to as many as possible. With an overall ethos of looking at the land through a longterm lens and making decisions that will help sustain as much life as possible in the long term.
Sitting looking up at the full moon, I felt encouraged and strengthened to keep on swimming against the main current but in the direction of ease, which feels completely, intuitively the right way. When the time is right, the tide will shift and maybe others will one day be swimming alongside me.
